|SITE BEFORE RE-DEVELOPMENT|
The clients request was for a contemporary outdoor living area to enjoy with their growing family and blend the landscape more in harmony with the homes grey brick exterior. The design was to incorporate a tennis court and weir edge swimming pool enhancing the vistas of the Waikato River and countryside beyond. To achieve this, the terraced gardens were removed and replaced with a block retailing wall which acts as the side of the swimming pool and the side of the tennis court below. Because of the instability of the ground a thorough GeoTech report and precise engineering was required.
Tiles were imported from France for the pool wave band and the feature wall giving privacy to people sitting in the shallows / step-area of the pool. Imported Limestone paving was used on the raised patio and around the pool to enhance the contemporary look. The grey tiled sloping back drop wall complements the natural contours of the ground towards the river and eliminates the south westerly drafts under the shelter planting. The roof top gardens are used to disguise the plant room from above. A Pleasure Pools motorised Undercover Roller System enables this heated pool to retain its heat more effectively and retain its visual continuity. The use of a sail over the Alfresco dining area and Chimnea enable this courtyard to be used most of the year.
